Prospective IB Students

Application and Testing for 8^th Graders

Here is the application link. This is where students apply for the program and sign up for the test (only out of district and private school students). 

These entrance exams are for students interested in applying to the Sonora High School IB Program that do not attend one of the district feeder schools. Feeder school students do not test, they only complete the application. The exam option pertains to all private schools and out of district students. 

Any freshman interested in enrolling in English 1 Honors, AP Human Geography or Biology Honors must complete an application. 

*If a student attends an out of district or private school, they must also sit for one of the exams. Dates are as follows:

Test Dates for Prospective IB Students(Current Out of District/Private School 8^th Graders):

• Saturday, December 20, 2025

• Saturday, January 10, 2026

• Saturday, January 24, 2026

The exam will be online and the student will take it from a location of their choice. They will have an exam window on that day to complete the exam once given the code.

What Comes Next?

Notification of Acceptance to the IB Program - letters of notification will be emailed to all applicants. For out of district students, this letter will need to be taken to your home school. 

Honors Parent Information Night- February 2026. Come meet the 9th grade honors teachers, and devise your planned 9th grade schedule.

Registration - Registration nights take place on several evenings in mid-March in the upper commons.  Sonora counselors, administrators, and program coordinators will assist students in this final step in their enrollment for the freshman year.  More information to come.
