Welcome to Sonora High School!
I believe every student, regardless of background or circumstances, can be successful. Our responsibility at Sonora is to help students achieve their goals and graduate prepared to pursue any path they choose. We want every door of opportunity to remain open. To me, success means enjoying the work you do, creating a life that fills your cup, and surrounding yourself with people who encourage and support you.
Students, families, and staff can expect me to be fair, empathetic, positive, and accountable—and to hold myself to the same standards. Mistakes are part of growing. What matters is taking responsibility, accepting consequences, learning from the experience, and making better choices moving forward.
Strong partnerships between school and home are essential. I encourage parents and guardians to remain actively involved by asking about schoolwork, checking grades, monitoring social media, and discussing responsible choices. Professional Biography
Jina Jackson is a dedicated educator with 28 years of experience serving students, families, and school communities. She began her career at Fullerton High School, where she spent 23 years teaching mathematics. For the past five years, she has served as an Assistant Principal at Sonora High School.
A graduate of Century High School in Santa Ana, Jina earned both an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Science degree from Cottey College. She continued her education at the University of San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, and later received a Master of Science in Education from California State University, Fullerton.
From a young age, Jina knew she wanted to become a teacher. During high school, she discovered her passion for mathematics and decided to pursue a career teaching math at the secondary level. Throughout her own educational journey, several influential adults encouraged, guided, and supported her. Their impact inspired her to become that same kind of caring and dependable adult for future generations of students.
As an administrator, Jina values the opportunity to support not only students and teachers but also families. She considers Sonora High School a truly special place, where staff, students, and parents genuinely care for one another.
