Sonora High School

Allen Whitten brings more than 25 years of experience in public education to his role as Interim Principal of Sonora High School. He most recently served as Director of Student Support Services for the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, overseeing districtwide wellness programs, student services, and leadership support across multiple high schools.

Previously, Mr. Whitten served for over seven years as Principal of Sunny Hills High School, leading a high-performing comprehensive campus of 2,400 students. His career also includes administrative leadership roles in Washington and Alaska, including Assistant Principal, Dean of Students, and Athletic Director. Throughout his work, he has focused on building positive school culture, supporting student well-being, strengthening instructional practices, and developing strong leadership teams.

Mr. Whitten holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and completed the Urban School Leaders Seminar at Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is credentialed in both California and Washington and is committed to creating schools that are welcoming, engaging, and rewarding places for students and staff alike.
